10:00 – Super Why & Princess Presto*
  Meet favorite characters from favorite PBSKids show Super Why!
11:00 – Radio Disney Dancers
   Young dancers from tiny to teen delight audience with their musical moves.
12:00 – Clementown
It’s poetry put to music when Clementown performs songs from their CD, Polkabats and Octopus Slacks – the Music.
1:00 – The Okee Dokee  Brothers
Share music and fun with the Okee Dokee Brothers. Enjoy their bluegrass sound for the younger set.
2:00 – Dazzling Dave – National Yo-Yo Master
A tornado of whirling tricks and tips designed to dazzle audiences of all ages.
3:00 – Magician Matt Dunn
An action-packed comedy magic show for the whole family.
4:00 -  Douglas Wood & the Wild Spirit Band
The Wild Spirit Band draws you in with American standards, bluegrass, jazz, folk songs, commercial hits, and original compositions.
*Super Why and Princess Presto will be back for 20 minutes at 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 near the stage.

    • Book Giveaway and Signing: Copies of Libraries of Minnesota will be given away starting at 1:00. Photographer Doug Ohman will be on hand to sign copies. One copy per person, while supplies last.

Learn to communicate in a powerful and effective way with the corporate and organizational decision-makers in your institutions.
You’ll learn how to predict and prepare for organizational challenges and opportunities and develop your value proposition and an individual value statement -- your elevator speech. This class will be fun, practical, and hands-on. 
The presenters have taught this course at Medical Library Association regional chapter and national meetings with good reviews from participants. They look forward to bringing the course to SLA in MN!

MN Job Posting - University of St. Thomas

Evening/Weekend Circulation Supervisor
Non-Exempt Position Available
Salary: $12.91 to $15.19

The University of St. Thomas is accepting applications for an Evening/Weekend Circulation Supervisor.

This position provides high-quality access to research services, academic resources, and spaces for students, faculty and staff to do group and individual work. Library circulation staff are responsible for opening and closing the library, assisting library users, implementing and interpreting library policies, supervising student workers, maintaining the library's patron and inventory database, circulating and maintaining the library's collections.

Responsibilities include: providing library and circulation assistance to O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library patrons; supervising student employees, including assisting with the hiring and training of student staff; managing billing and credit operations; monitor and identify areas in the library's circulating and reference collections for ease of retrieval, overcrowding, and cleanliness.

This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week. Schedule is every Wednesday and Thursday evening and every other weekend. This position is eligible for a generous benefits package which includes paid leave time, paid holidays, medical and dental coverage, and other policies and programs. Qualifications: Three years of related library experience, preferably in circulation at an academic institution. Bachelors Degree preferred.

We are looking for candidates with experience in library automated systems; strong customer service skills; ability to work independently with little supervision; attention to detail; proficiency with personal computer applications including e-mail and word processing, and aptitude for learning other support software.

MN Internship - Library Outreach Services

Library Outreach Services Internship
Hennepin County Library

Outreach promotes the use of the library by the nontraditional or under-served user through the development and support of programs and services.

The Outreach Department's goal is to bring the experience of the library and its resources to the community - in their homes, senior living facilities, rehabilitation centers, the correctional facilities of the county and through events held at the library.

Commitment:
One semester, 4 to 8 hours per week, September 2010 to December 2010.

Wage:
This is an unpaid position which could be for college credit or work experience.

Location:
Main work location is at the Ridgedale Library, 12601 Ridgedale Dr., Minnetonka, with some work in Downtown Minneapolis at the Juvenile Detention Center, in Plymouth at the Adult Correctional Facility, and in Minnetonka at the County Home School.

Application Deadline:
September 2, 2010.

Duties:
Duties may include the following:
• Assist at outreach events aimed at first generation library users
• Assist in classifying / organizing Adult Correctional Facility collection
• Assist in compiling and analyzing data for Adult Correctional Facility programs and Deposit Collection booktalking program
• Assist in creating documents for use in Large Print book club kits, including writing book discussion questions
• Assist in implementation of resource workshops at Adult Correctional Facility
• Assist in the creation, implementation and evaluation of a reading interest survey for use with the Deposit Collection sites, at the Adult Correctional Facility, and at the County Home School
• Assist in weekly filling of information requests from Adult Correctional Facility
• Plan, develop, and implement a book discussion group at the Adult Correctional Facility (women's) and District 287 (teens)
• Plan, develop, and implement a project of interest related to Outreach

Requirements:
Intern must currently be enrolled in a library program or a library school graduate.
