MN Job Posting - Library Technician, Duluth Public Library

The Duluth Public Library is looking for forward thinking, customer service oriented people to help us expand open hours at our three library locations. Last month the voters of Duluth overwhelmingly supported a referendum that secures dedicated funding for Parks & Recreation and frees up additional general funds for the library. As a result, we are reopening mornings at the Main Library and restoring five-day-per-week service at the neighborhood branches.

The library anticipates hiring four Library Technicians and three Librarian I’s. Last year’s strategic planning process identified our top service priorities as helping the community connect to digital resources, and building a strong foundation in literacy for children birth through third grade. Candidates who have solid skills in the areas of technology and service to children and families are especially encouraged to apply.

The library serves a city population of over 86,000. The Main Library is located in Duluth’s picturesque downtown on the shores of Lake Superior. Two branches, one located in a busy shopping center and another in a multi-use facility that includes a senior center, provide service to neighborhoods. The library employs 45 FTE and has an annual budget of approximately $4 million.

Information and applications can be found online at: http://www.duluthmn.gov/employment/jobs/index.cfm. Please note that the deadline for applications is December 22.
